About stoneware soap dish
About this product
An oval soap dish in glazed Westerwald stoneware, cast by hand in the ceramics workshop of the Benedictine abbey of Maria Laach in the Eifel. The dish is 14.5 cm long, 9.5 cm wide and 3.5 cm high.
The clay is poured into a plaster mould, then glazed and fired. This way of working took shape at Maria Laach through Theodor Bogler, a monk who had trained at the Bauhaus. The workshop reopened a few years ago and once again works both at the wheel and with casting moulds.
The base has five ribs. Your soap rests on top and can dry out well after use. A simple, sturdy piece for beside the washbasin or the bath. Soap is not included.
