The house after sunset

Glass from Cairo, pottery from Fayoum and cotton from the Nile: home accessories from Egypt for the hours when the house grows quiet.

Discover the collection

Mouth-blown glass from Cairo, pottery from the village of Tunis in Fayoum and hand-woven cotton from southern Egypt. Alongside them, a few pieces from European workshops in the same spirit. With every piece, you can read who makes it and where it comes from.

How we show origin

The hands behind the house

In Fayoum, potters paint their dishes and jugs, thrown from clay from Aswan. In old Cairo, glassblowers make new glass from collected glass, and in the Malaika embroidery workshop feluccas and palms are stitched onto linen. In Luxor, alabaster is worked by hand, and in the Siwa oasis makers carve candle holders from salt stone.

  • Malaika: pottery from Fayoum, glass from Cairo, alabaster from Luxor, embroidery and Egyptian cotton
  • La Route des Rois: glass from Cairo, date palm weaving and salt stone from Siwa
  • L'AMAR: porcelain, glazed by hand in Egypt

Honest about where it comes from

Not everything at Maison Layali comes from Egypt, and we would rather say so ourselves. Every product carries one of these three labels. On the product page, you can read exactly where and by whom it was made.

  • Handmade in EgyptMade by hand in small workshops, such as the glassblowers in Cairo and the potters in Fayoum.
  • Made in EgyptWoven and sewn in Egypt, from Delta cotton.
  • Inspired by EgyptDesigned after the colours and shapes of Egypt, made in carefully chosen workshops elsewhere.

Layali, Arabic for evenings

The hours when the house settles, the table is still full and no one looks at the clock. Those are the hours we make things for.
