Flow Feather bowl

A small bowl of pottery from Fayoum, with a swirl of brushstrokes in a single colour: yellow, blue or red.

Potters in Fayoum make it by hand from fire clay from Aswan, in the south of Egypt. The glaze is lead-free and the colours come from earth oxides. The bowl is 10 to 12 centimetres across and 7 centimetres tall. Because everything is done by hand, each bowl is a little different in line, colour and size.

Use it for olives, nuts or a dip, or set it down as a touch of colour on the table. It goes well with other pottery from Fayoum, such as the Blue Vine serving dish or the Minos dinner plate. Wash it by hand.

Material: Earthenware of fire clay from Aswan, lead-free glaze

Care: Wash by hand and do not leave it in water for long. Do not put it in the dishwasher or microwave unless the description says you may. Hand-painted pottery differs slightly in colour and line from piece to piece.
