Menya dinner plate, red

A red earthenware dinner plate with floral motifs and a decorative border, made entirely by hand in Egypt. Potters from Tunis, a village in Fayoum, make it for Malaika.

The plate is made of fire clay from Aswan, in Upper Egypt, and has a lead-free glaze. The colours come from earth oxides. The flowers and the border are laid out symmetrically across the plate, which gives a calm and cheerful look.

The plate measures about 25 to 27 centimetres across and is sold individually. Because everything is done by hand, each plate varies slightly in colour, line and size, so every piece is unique. Use it for the main course, as a set or between plain plates. Wash it by hand.

Material: Earthenware, clay from Aswan, lead-free glaze

Care: Wash by hand and do not leave it in water for long. Do not put it in the dishwasher or microwave unless the description says you may. Hand-painted pottery differs slightly in colour and line from piece to piece.
