Leaf Dance jug

A round earthenware jug, hand-painted with sweeping blue fronds and small green leaves. It is handmade in Egypt, in the Fayoum oasis.

The jug is made from fire clay from Aswan in Upper Egypt and finished with a lead-free glaze, coloured with earth oxides. It is 20 cm high and 13 cm wide, with a generous rounded shape and a handle that is comfortable to hold. Because everything is done by hand, each jug varies a little in colour and line.

Pour water, juice or wine from it, or display it on an open shelf. On the table it pairs well with the Blue Vine serving dish, also from Fayoum. Wash it by hand.

Care: Wash by hand and do not leave it in water for long. Do not put it in the dishwasher or microwave unless the description says you may. Hand-painted pottery differs slightly in colour and line from piece to piece.
